This recipe is nice and easy to make, and you can spray it on yourself, your hair (mosquitoes like hair), or on the window screen, or just any where around yourself, like I do. the natural bug repellent home spray recipe:
my Entomophobia (fear of insects) essential oil blend, concentrated:
- 1 T citronella essential oil
- 3/4 tsp peppermint
- 3/4 tsp tea tree
- 3/4 tsp eucalyptus
- 3/4 tsp lemongrass
- other:
- a 1 oz dropper bottle (from a drug store)
- label it
From this blend, you can:
- make a spritzer or spray with a 10% essential oil blend and 90% water
- add a few drops to your lotion and apply like usual
- increase essential oil amount for high insect count
The costs, according to my binder, based on supplies bought about years ago and bought in bulk:
- for the 1 oz concentrated bottle of essential oils:
- citronella $0.35
- peppermint $0.21
- tea tree $0.24
- eucalyptus $0.17
- lemongrass $0.17
- dropper bottle $1.20
- label $0.25
- TOTAL COST: $2.59 – that’s really good!
So if you were to take that one ounce, pour it in an 8 – 10 ounce spritzer bottle (say $2.00 cost for that), that’s a cost of $3.39, and you could sell it for at least $8.00.
