Another of our brilliant ideas was to make mocha latte soap. Again, as wonderful as this scent was, it wasn’t the biggest seller as a soap, yet it was as a lotion. This scent was generally used in our kitchen bar with ground coffee as the odor eliminator, and that soap smelled great, especially in the kitchen.
Some scents have a natural coloring, and this mocha latte scent did. Hence we did not have to tint or color it. So depending on your scent, check the description, you may need color or not. There is no such thing as an essential oil for this scent, so being all-natural is already out the window, but cocoa powder makes for a nice colorant and you can control the amount of shading. On you label you could not elaborate on the fragrance oil but point out the natural coloring, such as “this bar has that fresh awakening coffee scent with the natural coloring of cocoa powder”.
make mocha latte soap recipe:
- Basic #2 recipe: (you can select a different base here)
51.2 oz Olive oil or an Olive/Canola blend
6.2 oz coconut oil
6.2 oz Palm oil
23.4 oz water
8.6 oz lye crystals
for this scented bar, add:
5 T mocha latte FO
colorant:
1/2 – 2 tsp of cocoa powder – depending on the shade
optional:
coffee beans – embedded on the top, these just make the soap bar look amazing!
An easy yet beautiful example of 3 layers representing the espresso, mocha, and whipped cream. The top sprinkling would probably be fine diced dark soap base.
Getting a little more complicated, yet this bar is amazing with it’s 7 layers! With the soap at a thick stage, first the dark layer covers the bottom, then see that the white base with previously used ground coffee is poured, or spooned, to the right side, brown to the left, etc, and this makes layers that are not equal and perfect which adds to the uniqueness. Top it off with white soap base (with titanium dioxide perhaps), spooned on to create a peak, and sprinkled with perhaps powdered coffee beans or cinnamon.
